Establishing Master Programmes in HRM and Talent Development in Central Asia / TALENT

598690-EPP-1-2018-1-BE-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP

Project duration: 36 months

Coordinator of the project: Vrije Universiteit Brussel, BELGIUM

Starting idea: To retrain teachers from 7 Central Asia universities in 8 HRM related courses and to establish 7 in these universities accredited master programmes in “HRM and Talent Development” (TALENT) .

The development objectives of this project are:

  1. To retrain teachers from 7 CA universities in 8 HRM related courses. The CA teachers will be made deeper acquainted with EU HRM research and practice. The CA teachers will be encouraged to develop comparative courses, and to question what HRM in the EU or western context takes for granted. Mainly, the teachers will develop syllabi and introductory texts to their courses. In the margin of the project, they will be stimulated to set up research in HRM.
  2. To establish 7 accredited master programmes in “HRM and Talent Development” (TALENT). The details of the curriculum will be developed in the Preparation workpackage. The programme will be oriented towards giving students a background in HRM that enables them to scientifically analyse an organisation and to set up methods for improving both the situation of employees and the economic efficiency of the organisation.
  3. To make an informal network of EU and CA teachers. Within the project, CA teachers working on the same or similar courses will come together in workgroups and HRM workshops with the EU teachers. Academic discussion and comparative HRM is to be stimulated. In Y3 of the project, the network will aim for the systematisation of CA HRM research.

General set-up and timing:

Y1

To define the course titles and structure of a two-year HRM master programme (TALENT) in 7 Central Asian (CA) universities.

To write in each CA university the syllabi for 8 core HRM courses (40ECTS).

Y2

To prepare an accreditation dossier in each CA university (120ECTS).

To have the TALENT master programme accredited in each CA university.

Y2-Y3

To have 6 workshops (one in each CA city) on HRM, involving the regional stakeholders.

To develop introductory texts for the 8 HRM core courses (developing deep HRM knowledge, adapted to CA).

Y3

To run in each CA university the first year of the master programme with a first cohort of 20 students.
